Morris Furniture Co., Inc. is known throughout Dayton as a company that gives back to the community in an assortment of ways. One of the projects in 2008 was helping Children’s of Dayton by raising money to buy a much needed new emergency transport vehicle. Each emergency transport vehicle costs approximately $130,000.00. In previous years Morris Furniture Co., Inc. has been able to raise $50,000 - $75,000 for Children’s of Dayton at our Vendor Golf Outings. Between our June Vendor Golf Outing and our August Community Event, we raised close to $130,000!
Those of you who are basketball fans may remember when Wright State University and the University of Dayton used to play the Gem City Jam basketball game. We would like them to bring those basketball games back to life and since we like challenges, we decided to combine our love of golf and basketball and hold a golf outing called Gem City Jam. Dayton businesses were invited to participate. The basketball coaches from UD and WSU participated in the event which was held August 25, 2008, at the NCR Country Club. The outing was a success and the proceeds from the Vendor Outing and the Gem City Jam Outing will pay for a new emergency transport van thanks to the generosity of Morris Furniture Co., Inc., our great group of vendors, and the businesses that joined us for this worthy project.
