DETERMINING
PROPER USAGE AND SIZE FOR AREA RUGS
A rug's
size can help define furniture groups.
Rugs should be in proper scale with both the furniture and the size of the room.
In a dining area, one should be able to pull out one's chair and sit at the
table without the back chair legs falling of the edge of the rug.
In seating areas, both larger and smaller rugs can be used effectively to
accommodate furniture in different sized rooms.
For bedrooms, the use of different sized rugs can provide an accent of color or
become the focal point of the room.
Rugs in the kitchen, hallway and foyer lend not only a decorative touch, but
have function as well.
Sizing Tips
Buying the proper size rug maximizes your satisfaction of purchase.
Using newspaper, cover the space of the floor where the rug is to lie. Measure
the area the newspaper covers and order the rug closest to those dimensions.
