Holiday
decorating creates memories
Holidays are all
about memories. Do you remember how your house looked during the holiday season
when you were a child? Or Maybe when your children were little and your house
was filled with anticipation and festivities?
Why not recapture those looks and feelings when you decorate for the holidays
this year?
"Nothing is more inviting than a wintery night in a home that's well
decorated for Christmas," said Bona Griffieth buyer of accessories for
MORRIS Home Furnishings. "The decorating you do in your home helps you
remember good times with family and friends and that"s a wonderful
feeling."
Decorating your home, Griffieth pointed out, can be a very individual thing.
Instead of just buying decorations from a store, why not make them reflect your
individual tastes and memories.
You can, for example, take a family heirloom - perhaps an antique vase - and
decorate around it with greenery and treasured ornaments. A banister always
looks nice entwined with garlands and ribbons. Or maybe you have a chandelier
that could be enhanced with some holiday bows and boughs.
"If you have the time, it's fun to decorate your home inside and outside.
Some people even decorate the bedrooms, but most concentrate on living
areas," Griffieth said.
"The important thing is to plan, and it's not too early to begin coming up
with ideas," she added. "You can reflect on what you might have done
in years past and plan to fill in or expand your decorations for this
year."
"Perhaps you would like to try a certain theme or variety of color schemes.
Planning now gives you the time to look around for items you'll need."
